My big motivational quote has been lurking around for about 7 years or so, I found it whilst trolling the internet and it struck a chord in me...
I always imagine a very Samuel L. Jackson/ Pulp Fiction sorta voice
Here it is...
I was not delivered unto this world in defeat, nor does failure course in my veins.
I am not a sheep waiting to be prodded by my shepherd.
I am a lion and I refuse to talk, to walk, to sleep with the sheep.
I will hear not those who weep and complain, for their disease is contagious.
Let them join the sheep.
The slaughterhouse of failure is not my destiny.

Heart Rate Monitoring
Following the wisdom of J, the instigator of this madness, I have purchased a new HRM - a Suunto T6c... very nice HRM which will replace a decrepit Polar.
A good review/comparison between the T6c and Garmin 405
A good article on HR Measurement and HR Training

And so it begins...
Yesterday I made the fatal mistake that I'm sure most if not all of us have made at some time in our lives. I made a snap decision whilst talking with a close friend to complete a half ironman in seven months time.
So lets put this in perspective... it's just a triathlon - swim, cycle and run - no biggy right... except for the 1.9kms of swimming, followed by 90km of cycling and then a leisurely 21km of running.... to be completed in a maximum of 7.5hours. I'm currently 6'4 (194cm), 112kg, moderately active.
So basically this will be a personal diary of what happens in the next 7 months. Stay tuned.
So it begins
